Crush Lust Stalk with Kitty

liznylon_blog_interior_idols_crushluststalk

Happy Wednesday Interior geeks.  Today I’m going to brighten up your mid week blues with a winning combo of colour explosion + abstract designs + jungalow vibes. YES! It’s none other than the statement making Kitty McCall on this week’s Interior Idol Crush Lust Stalk. Kitty’s fabric and art designs are downright sumptuous, they are bright & bold & brave, happily energetic, innovative and deliciously decadent. She believes in living life in a bold & colourful way and hopes her designs bring joy. It’s perfect for some Wednesday inspiration.

Before we go any further, want to drool over some chairs that have received the va-va-voom treatment thanks to Kitty’s jaw dropping fabrics … of course you do!

This is absolute heaven for a chair lover like me. This luscious line up includes Dutch duo Ma.By vintage vibe with Kitty’s Braille Autumn, Kitty’s limited edition Plumeria Ben chair, Central Design Studio used Kitty’s Canary in Mercure Hotel revamp, legendary Florrie & Bill pairs their peach chips chair with Kitty’s art print, Singapore’s Blafink chair in Kitty’s Rousseau fabric, Australia’s Alfie & Audrey taps Kitty’s Tropical Landscape, Kitty’s blush Queen Palm chair, and a special collab with furniture designer Arlo & Jacob. I’d say yes to any & all of these chairs.

Back in 2010 Kitty had a successful career designing prints for iconic fashion brands like Anthropologie, Thakoon, Etro, Descamps but gave it all up to go solo and launch her own line Kitty McCall. The fun name is a combo of her nick name + maiden name. Yes, she designs stunning fabrics but it is so much more – in fact some of her collaborations are big brands that we all dream of working with …

Like Häagen-Dazs, yup, she designed the colour popping wildly floral packaging for a special Valentine’s Day – cherry blossom and lavender blueberry flavours are even sweeter with Kitty’s designs. Estee Lauder, yup, tapped Kitty for a special Bloomingdale’s (in NYC) giveaway. She’s also graced the pages of House Beautiful, Grazia, Elle Decoration, Grand Designs, Homes & Gardens, Harpers Bazaar and many others.

I stumbled across Kitty earlier this year when I was on the hunt for “the perfect” design to pair up with Christian LaCroix Bagatelle wallpaper for my Interior Design “dream lounge” assignment. BAM. After hours of searching, up popped Kitty’s colourfully abstract jungle designs and I literally danced around the kitchen. It was the mash up of monochrome intricate patterns + bold prints + unexpected shading + layers of colours + neutrals that was something truly unique & creative. This is what makes Kitty’s designs magical, they are stylishly unpredictable & simply fun. I’ve been pointing people in her direction ever since. I even started a secret “kitty fund” as her designs will be the focal point in my real life bedroom revamp later this year.

There are so many FAB designs in Kitty’s shop that I’d happily swoop it all up! Here are my top picks “the liznylon edit” found on Kitty’s online shop: From art prints to lampshades, cushions to washbags, fabric to cards, furniture to decorations, there are endless possibilities for finding something truly unique & different. Now on to the good stuff — Kitty’s Crush Lust Stalk … BLOG_CLS_DETAIL

CRUSH – Kitty is obsessed with plants at the moment. She’s had Pot & Vessel in Folkestone, Kent source a few for her actual shop in Folkestone. She says “I find plants create a more relaxing & restful ambiance in our space.”

LUST – Kitty has been lusting after the velvety luxe Boyd sofa by Pinch Design. I say it is super lush, especially those long narrow sexy cushions. WANT.

STALK – Kitty’s guilty pleasure is stalking Firmdale hotels by Kit Kemp in London & New York Insta feed everyday. The colours, the patterns, the mash up is perfectly suited with Kitty’s own designs. Hmmm. I wonder if we’ll see a hotel designed by Kitty one day?! I hope so!

Kitty is jetting halfway around the world and says “please hand over the keys Halcyon House“. Set along Australia’s NSW Coast on Cabarita Beach, Halcyon House is one of those casually chic and seriously cool boutique hotels with interiors you’d want to secretly pack up in your suitcase. A colourful mashup of wallpaper, textiles and dreamy gallery walls compete with dramatic beach views, palm trees and ocean breezes. This is paradise found. Well done Kitty on introducing us to this gem!

Kitty’s current favourite space is her bedroom. She says “it is the one place where I can go and regroup. NO kids (except the 6am wake ups) and NO electronics.” I definitely need to take some tips from Kitty as I haven’t mastered either.

What’s next up for Kitty?! You can find Kitty in Folkestone’s Creative Quarter at her charming shop where she’s working on some new designs. Yes. She has even posted a few “sneaky peeks” on her Insta feed & talked about her process of using colour paper cutouts to create collages to get a “feel” for how colours & patterns work together.

Also, check out Kitty on “Confessions of a serial Creative” video interview by Liu_Batchelor where you can also have a sneaky peek of her FAB shop.

And – click NOW – to grab yourself a few remaining items in Kitty’s summer SALE. Unfortunately all the sexy sample sale chairs were snatched up quickly.

That’s a wrap for today. I hope you’ve found today’s Interior Idol – Crush Lust Stalk with Kitty inspiring and packed full of ideas for how to combined bright colours, bold designs, and a junglow vibe all together in a magical way. Have a good one!

Cheers,

Liz xx
